War Captivity, Memory & Resistance
POWs β Behind Barbed Wire will be a space dedicated to the history of prisoners of war across modern conflicts.
The site will take a comparative and transnational approach to war captivity. It will offer documented databases, and highlight captivity narratives, escape stories, overlooked archives and family testimonies.
From the Franco-Prussian War to the most recent conflicts, Behind Barbed Wire aims to better understand life in captivity, forms of resistance, survival strategies, and the individual and collective memories that emerge from these experiences.
